World Food Day is observed annually on October 16 every year. The day is celebrated with the aim of highlighting the millions of people worldwide who cannot afford a healthy diet and the need for regular access to nutritious food.
World Food Day is led by ‘The Food and Agriculture Organization’ (FAO). A number of global challenges are being faced this year, including the COVID-19 pandemic, conflicts, climate change, rising prices, and international tensions. All of this is affecting global food security.

Food is one of the most essential requirements for the sustenance of human life. In order to achieve a sustainable world, the world needs to be able to provide enough nutritious food for everyone, everywhere on a regular basis.
WORLD FOOD DAY HISTORY:
Former Hungarian Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Pal Romany suggested the establishment of World Food Day in November 1979. It is celebrated in more than 150 countries around the world.
In order to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations, every year, World Food Day is celebrated across the globe on October 16 every year.
